FORMAT
A series of visits to the Port Hills for Society members and non
members, on the 4th Sunday of each month. Outings run from 1 - 4pm
approximately, unless otherwise noted. Participants assemble at
a designated point and either walk or drive the organized route.
Reasonable mobility is required, but unless noted, they are not
planned for only the super fit. Outings will be advertised in local
papers and non-members are encouraged to attend. Bring your friends.
The aim is to increase people's enjoyment and understanding of the
Port Hills. Outings are designed as far as possible to return participants
to the origin point and to be flexible in the event of bad weather.
CHARGES
There is a charge of $2 a head per outing for members and $5 for
non-members, with accompanying children free. Money collected is
used as a 'thank you' to the day's hosts and to pay the Society's
costs (advertising, postage). Profits, if any, will be used to fund
further Port Hills activities by the Society. Charges are collected
at the assembly point.
REGISTRATION
Members and non-members alike should register for each outing by
the Friday prior to that outing. This allows us to plan for the
numbers attending and to phone registrants in the event of postponement.
Register by phone or fax with Carol Haars, Administrator, Summit
Road Society, 942 4857, or fax 942 4856. Remember when registering
to include your contact number.
POSTPONEMENT
Postponements will be broadcast on the Newstalk ZB cancellations
service (1098 AM on your radio) after 9am. We also will endeavour
to phone those registrants whose have given their phone numbers.
Trips postponed will be rescheduled for the following Sunday. Please
re-notify your plans to attend or not after a postponement.
